With an Open Heart and a Free Bodt

A Cross-Section of Rio's Street Carnival,
2015 -2025

Since 2015, this series has followed Rio de Janeiro’s street carnival from an internal perspective, immersed in the flow of the street blocos. Documented from the viewpoint of a reveler, the work captures the unfolding of blocos, musicians, stilts, banners, abre-alas, cordeiros, and street vendors that reconfigure the city’s urban imaginary.

The images are constructed using direct flash with the intention of materializing the sensory intensity of this encounter, making colors vibrate with the same force as the carnival occupies the streets.

It is a record of the street as a territory of freedom and a testament to the world’s greatest party.
